FEES AND PROCESS
Two of the most frequent questions asked by clients are “What do you charge?” and “How do you work?” Some of our clients have never worked with a designer. Knowing what to expect helps to alleviate apprehensions.

FEES

HOURLY RATE

Like most designers my charges are based on time spent. My rate is $150 per hour. Design Assistant time is charged at $75 an hour. I do not charge for assistant time if I bring an assistant to the job site or a meeting so you will not be billed for both of our time.

FIXED PRICE

Larger projects with a clearly define a scope, will be billed at a flat rate based on historic time estimates. The flat fee assumes two drawing and design revisions as well as a reasonable amount of time spent with clients to accomplish the stated design goals, as defined in the engagement letter.

CONSULTING SERVICES

Sometimes clients would simply like consulting services. For example, assistance selecting finishes, paint colors or lighting but they prefer to handle the implementation of the design plan themselves. No problem! Consulting services are billed hourly.

INITIAL MEETING CHARGE

The charge for an initial meeting is a $150.

PROCESS
(1) INITIAL MEETING

In the initial meeting we will discuss the scope of the project, your thoughts, goals and budget.

(2) ENGAGEMENT LETTER
After our initial meeting, we will prepare an engagement letter which will outline the terms of our agreement, scope of services and payment schedule. Once the engagement letter is signed and any applicable deposits or retainers collected, it is time to get started!
(3) DESIGN PRESENTATION

Using the information gathered from the initial meeting, we will prepare a custom design to meet your needs.

(4) REALIZING YOUR VISION
Projects are monitored by periodic job-site visits. Construction often brings unanticipated issues which may impact the design. Working with the client and contractors we will develop an acceptable plan to deal with these issues.
Communication is key to ensuring a successful project. Regular project updates are sent to clients. We take pride in being responsive to client needs so please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.
A WORD ABOUT BUDGETS
Budgets are an important element of the design process. The cost of projects can vary greatly depending on the materials selected, as well as, the quantity and expertise of labor requirements. A preliminary target budget will help ensure that the design presented meets both your fiscal and aesthetic requirements.
